The Housatonic Council of the Boy Scouts of America applied to repair a 60 ft retaining stone wall and to construct a 16’x20’ pavilion at the Edmund D. Strang Scout Reservation on West Side Road. The current three-foot-tall stonewall on West Side Pond was originally built in the 1960’s and has fallen down repeatedly over the years. The Council intends to rebuild the wall with precast Recon Blocks, but no excavator has been found for the project yet. This new wall will be four feet tall to prevent sand erosion. After reviewing the BSA’s application, IWWCC chairman Thomas Stansfield requested the BSA come back on Thursday, October 3rd with a detailed plan for excavating the area near the wall and a picture and map of the area. A motion was made to accept the BSA Housatonic Council’s application. This was unanimously approved.

Sarah Butler applied to repair her rock shoreline on her 120 East Hyerdale Drive property. Her shoreline and a part of her lawn had been damaged by Woodridge Lake ice. Sarah and her husband William Butler Jr. intend to repair their shoreline to its original form and add drainage to prevent future incidents. Land Use Enforcement Officer Spencer Musselman recommended the Butlers utilize turbidity curtains to help stabilize the land. Turbidity curtains, also known as silt curtains, are floating vinyl barriers that stop silt and sediment from flowing into other parts of a body of water. The curtains are typically used on construction sites near waterways to prevent erosion and silt build-up. Stansfield motioned to have Musselman determine if this application will be recognized as a permit, maintenance item, or a construction project. This was unanimously approved.

Edmond Meto, owner of the Goshen-based home improvement company Ed & AJ Building and Remodeling LLC, requested to have the permit for 88 Dresden Circle transferred to him with the same conditions from the property’s prior owners. Meto purchased the property from its previous owners Kenneth and Lindsay Willard. A motion was made to transfer the permit 24-6W 88 Dresden Circle to Ed & AJ Building and Remodeling LLC. This was unanimously approved.

Stansfield then motioned to add the properties at 130, 132, and 136 Sandy Beach Road along Tyler Lake to the agenda. This was unanimously approved. Patricia Mascetti explained that she is requesting to reorganize an existing seawall made of rocks after several of the rocks fell due to ice and erosion, “It's pretty much picking up the stones and putting them back where they came from. You know, we're not changing the shoreline.” Most of the stones will be moved by hand. Mansfield requested Mascetti come back in October with some photographs and a detailed plan and timeline of the project. A motion to accept the application was unanimously approved.
