Over $4 million in Rural Transportation Infrastructure Grants are coming to the 30th District to improve critical roadways and support safer travel for drivers, emergency responders, and local families. These projects are key to strengthening our region’s connectivity and infrastructure:
- Goshen – $1.5 million to rehabilitate the West Hyerdale Drive Bridge over the Marshapaug River. This project will extend the bridge's life by 75 years and ensure continued access to the town center for emergency vehicles and residents.
- Bethlehem – $2 million for safety and drainage upgrades on Flanders Road, a vital link between Route 6 in Woodbury and Route 61 in Bethlehem.
- Litchfield – $968,000 for full-depth reconstruction and drainage improvements on Campville Road, enhancing access to nearby state parks and creating safer conditions for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

H.B. 5002 & S. B. 8 Vetoed by Governor Lamont
|

|
From the start, every Senate Republican stood united against these deeply flawed bills. We sounded the alarm on H.B. 5002’s attack on local control and S.B. 8’s damage to our business climate. We pushed for vetoes, and thousands of constituents joined us in demanding better.
H.B. 5002: A bill that would’ve been an extreme state takeover of local control.
(Note: The bill entitled “An Act Concerning Housing and the Needs of Homeless Persons” included a number of mandates related to affordable housing, economic diversity, and zoning. It had been criticized as an inappropriate “one size fits all” approach.)
S.B. 8: A bill that would have paid workers to go on strike and further hurt Connecticut businesses.
This is a clear message: bad policy doesn’t get a free pass when people stand together. Thank you to all who spoke up and contacted the Governor’s office to urge him to veto these bills!
