Dr. Blondin Receives the 2023 Connecticut Association of Optometrists Advocacy Award

Torrington Optometrist and Goshen Resident Dr. Matthew Blondin was the recent recipient of the 2023 Connecticut Association of Optometrists Advocacy Award presented by Dr. Brian Lynch, Chairman of the Legislation and Legal Affairs Committee of the Connecticut Association of Optometrists and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz.

Dr. Matthew Blondin has been a practicing optometrist in Torrington for over 40 years and currently practices with his son-in-law Dr. Michael Shea. He is currently the longest practicing eye care provider in Litchfield County.

Dr. Blondin is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, the Pennsylvania College of Optometry-Salus University and the University of Connecticut where he received his Masters of Public Health degree in 2020. He is fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate in the American Board of Optometry. He also currently serves as an Adjunct Professor teaching Law & Public Health at the University of New Haven.

He is a past recipient of the CAO Optometrist of the Year Award and has served for 12 years as Chairman of the Connecticut State Board of Optometry. For more than 20 years he has also served as the founder and President of VOSH-CT (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), helping to provide eyecare to over 50,000 patients for those in need in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.
