Finance: Tax Collections at 99.71%

Goshen’s Board of Finance met on Wednesday, June 28th for their monthly gathering. All members of the board were in attendance save for William Lane who was excused. First Selectman Todd Carusillo also attended the meeting. The meeting began with Robert Valentine motioning to seat Patrick Reilly. This was unanimously approved. Valentine then motioned to approve May’s meeting minutes. Seeing no correction, this was unanimously approved.

For Financial reports, the Board received and reviewed reports submitted by Debbie Franklin for June 2023. Chairman Alan Walker noted that Tax Collector Rebecca Juchert-Derungs’ end of year collection rate is 99.71%.

Carusillo then conducted his First Selectman’s report. He reported that they closed the purchase of 13.84 acres of land at Sharon Turnpike on Friday, May 26th that will house a new storage facility for the town’s Public Works and Fire Department. A fund transfer request from Public Works Supervisor Garret Harlow was approved to move $140,371.35 from Town Aid Road for town road chip sealing projects. Carusillo ended his report by mentioning that Harlow additionally requested an approval to move $9,500 from Town Aid Road to Major Road Projects to blast a ledge on Holmes Road. “So, right now between renting the big excavator with a hammer on it for breaking up rock and blasting for $9,500, we got twenty grand into that road so far,” Carusillo summarized. “Our guys are doing incredible work and summer ain’t out yet which is pretty nice.”

James Korner then motioned to adjourn the meeting which was unanimously approved.
