The Board of Selectmen called a Special Town Meeting on May 9th for the purpose of voting on a $200,000 land acquisition proposal. The meeting was held at 8 PM in the Goshen Center School cafeteria.

The 13.84 acre parcel on Rt. 4 abuts a Goshen Land Trust wetlands area and a private residence. A conceptual sketch submitted to the Planning & Zoning Commission showed a potential 12,000 sq. ft. building and a field of solar panels. The scheduled vote was for the cost of land acquisition only. No designs, studies or costs for building construction have been published.

A number of residents spoke in favor of the proposal and others spoke against it. A complete review will be published in the upcoming Third Edition of The Goshen News. At the end of the discussion a paper ballot was cast and the proposal to purchase the land was approved by a vote of 78 to 35.
