Washington Board of Selectmen Meeting
12/30/25, 5:30 PM
Present: Selectmen Jay Hubelbank and Dean Sarjeant
During its final meeting of 2025 on the evening of December 30, the Washington Board of Selectmen took the opportunity to thank the town staff for their work throughout the year and also voted to extend the lease of a transfer station by four months.
At the top of the meeting, Hubelbank motioned to approve the minutes from the December 18, 2025, meeting, which was seconded by Sarjeant. The motion was unanimously approved.
“It’s the end of the year, I think we had a great year in town,” Hubelbank said. “I want to thank the staff, in particular, for the great work they do all year long. They really go out of their way, I think, to really help the public, and that’s their job and they do that very effectively.”
Hubelbank also used the opportunity to thank the town road crew, noting that he recently had signed time cards: “I know they spent a good deal of time out there during the week and on the weekends and appreciate the work they do.”
Sarjeant added that Washington’s roads were cleared “so quickly,” a sentiment, he said, that was also expressed to him by non-residents.
“I often drove out of town during those days when I was working, and even though we’re on the hill, I found that a lot, so I want to thank them for that,” Hubelbank said.
Under old business, the Washington BOS considered the extension of the transfer station lease. Hubelbank made a motion to authorize the first selectman to enter into a four-month lease extension for the transfer station to “allow us to continue monitoring test wells.” The motion was seconded by Sarjeant and passed unanimously. Hubelbank explained that $2,500 per month is paid for the lease.
