We're Back Region 20 Community!

After the holiday season the Board is back in action and we could not be more excited about what lies ahead. It's February and that means we have less than 5 months until we are officially merged and ready to rock 'n roll! It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Some of you may be wondering what we've been up to since our last update, so we thought we would fill you in on the latest news from around the school district.

Some announcements:

The ASTE Program has been awarded a CT Grown for CT Kids Grantin the amount of $22,754 for starter projects at Arethusa Farms.

We have a very enthusiastic group of parents from our 4 towns that have created a working committee to bring a pool to Region 20. They are doing a lot of investigative work and research with regard to locations, needs, budgets, basically everything it will take to get a pool for our swim teams. The Board has committed to continuing conversations with the parents group and we are optimistic and hopeful that something great will happen in Region 20’s future.

The leadership of Region 20 is continually growing and we are excited to announce the most recent Administrative appointments to the district. Big Congratulations to:

ASTE Principal - Charlie Rowland

Lakeview HS Dean of Students & Athletic Director - Kyle Weaver

James Morris School Principal - Michael Pascento

Now for the fun stuff! The first graduating class of Lakeview High School, the class of 2025, has approached the board about hosting an event to help raise funds for their final year activities (prom, class trips, etc) in the form of a “Parent/Adult Prom.” We, of course, are very enthusiastic about helping them reach their goals. The Communications committee has taken on the task of helping to organize and bring this event to life. Thanks to Raymond Zeyte, one of the class of ‘25 advisors for spearheading the project. The committee is made up of parents, board members, teachers and students. We are in the process of planning the party - which means we need a location, food, beverages, music and donations for a silent auction. So if you know anyone with access to any of these things, please send them our way! Let’s make this happen for our rising seniors!

The Region 20 school store is OPEN until February 20th - now’s your chance to show your school spirit and get your Bobcats gear! https://www.rsd20.org/o/rsd-20/page/district-store

We know winter can be long and cold and sometimes it can be days before we see the giant glowing orb in the sky - the good news, per Punxsutawney Phil is that we’re on the other side of it. As the days get longer, and the sun shines brighter, we are excited about all the wonderful things we have coming down the pike. We appreciate your support and as always encourage your thoughts. Please join us at one of our meetings (in person or remote) or shoot us an email.
