In our 5th Edition, we mistakenly reported that due to the State’s Minority Party Representation law, only the top two Republican Planning & Zoning Candidates and one Democratic candidate could be elected to the Commission. While the law states that generally majority party representation on Town Boards and Commissions is limited to no more than 67%, different rules apply to small boards and commissions. For a Board of 5 members, like Goshen’s PZC, the law allows a 4 to 1 majority.
Therefore, as a result of the caucus balloting, Republicans Garceau, Carroll and Withstandley will advance to the November election ballot, and will compete with Democratic candidate Lu-Ann Zbinden, the only nominated Democrat for that position. Three of the four will be elected.

In our report on the Democratic Caucus, the name of Josephine Jones, candidate for the Board of Assessment Appeals, was inadvertently left out of the listing of all candidates. Her name was immediately added to the list on our online edition, upon being advised of the omission by the candidate.
