I am writing to let people know about the proposed Connecticut Environmental Rights Amendment which is an amendment to the Connecticut Consititution guaranteeing rights to a healthy environment for all Connecticut residents.

I believe that all humans have the right to an environment that supports health and I am urging everyone to let their state elected officials know that you support having the Connecticut Constitution guarantee the health-maintaining rights of clean air, clean water, healthy soil, and a safe climate.

In the era of environmental degradation such as forever chemicals (PFAS for example), and threats to forest health and other serious environmental problems, it is more important than ever to secure our environment for ourselves, our children and grandchildren.

The Amendment would ensure that these environmental rights are protected for all the people of Connecticut and require state protection of natural resources for the benefit of current future generations and prevent diversion of money intended to protect natural resources.

These important environmental rights would then be on the same legal footing as other fundamental human rights - freedom of speech and religion, for example.

Please join me in letting your legislators know you want them to help sponsor this amendment being proposed this year.
