To The Editor:

Congratulations on the start of the newest local news publication in Connecticut – the Goshen News.

Enshrined in our Constitution is freedom of the press.  Our founders knew then -- and we appreciate now -- that a vigorous, independent news media is a key component of a vibrant democracy and a responsive government.

This principle is critical for the proper functioning of our state and federal governments but even more so for local governments and communities where the most meaningful services are provided.     That is why I am thrilled to contribute to the first edition of the Goshen News.  Residents will now have a new source of independent, town based information.

I look forward to many years of Goshen News editions.

Dear Editor,

I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to the Goshen News team on the release of your very first issue.

Local news plays a crucial role in helping us understand the issues that are affecting our towns and providing us with the information we need to make informed decisions and get involved. It keeps us up to date on the latest developments in local politics, community events, important public safety matters, and changes in the school system, among other things.

Quality, unbiased journalism is vital to local communities, and democracy at large. Reliable local news sources are often the best medium to keep our citizens informed and engaged in the issues that matter most to their community. I am thrilled to see that tradition continue with this new publication.

At a time when many local newspapers are shuttering their doors, it is encouraging to see a new local news outlet starting up. It is essential that we continue to support our local news outlets.

As we move forward, I am confident that the Goshen News will be a vital source of information, a trusted voice for the community, and a local pillar. I want to commend you for all the hard work that your team has put into this new publication. I look forward to reading more in the future.

Sincerely,

Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz

To The Editor:

Congratulations to all on the inaugural edition of the Goshen News! News sources that are close to local events and can report their context and importance to the rural communities in the Northwest Corner are important as sources of both information and community connections. I welcome this new nonprofit venture into the world and look forward to reading it!
