The vote is in.  Our ballots have been counted.  The results are in the paper for all to see.  Now it’s time to move on and work together.  In that vein, we should pause and take notice of some things.

Everyone who put their names on the ballot should be thanked for their time, dedication, and volunteerism.  They put themselves “out there” for us.  That deserves our respect.  More of us should aspire to do the same.

Let us not forget, however, that going forward, we all have the right to voice our concerns, praise or disagreements to those in office.  This should be done, in my opinion, with the facts of the matter in hand, calmly, and most importantly, with respect.  In return, our leaders should reply in a like manner.

In order to have free conversations with our leaders, they need to make themselves accessible, and that means having their contact information published.  The Goshen News will do that in January.
