GOSHEN
Kevin Sweeney, 68, of Goshen passed away peacefully on Oct. 20 surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Aug. 22, 1957 in Lansing, Michigan, he was the son of Joseph and Karol Sweeney. He is survived by his loving wife, Marta; his daughters – Alexis, Ashley, and Amanda; his brothers, Steve and Tim; and his cherished grandchildren.
LITCHFIELD
Michael Milburn, 70, of Litchfield, and Melbourne Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Oct. 12, at his home in Litchfield with family by his side. Michael was born on June 17, 1955, in Waterbury, a son of the late Bernadine Mordino. Besides his wife, Joanne and his dog, Michael is survived by his children, Michael J. and his fiancée, David, and his wife, Megan J., and her partner.
Paul C. Casadei, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 2. Born on Jan. 27, 1973, in Torrington, he was the son of Susanne (Koser) Casadei and the late Mark Anthony Casadei. He was raised in Litchfield where he attended local schools. In addition to his father, Mark Anthony, he was predeceased by his brothers, Geno and Mark Anthony "Tony” Jr.
THOMASTON
Carol Gasper, 77, of Thomaston, passed peacefully Oct. 26 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, after an extended illness. Carol was born on May 6, 1948, in Waterbury, the daughter of Gloria (Giordano) Bradshaw and the late Howard Bradshaw Jr. Left to honor her memory, her husband, Stephen, her children, Mark, and Kathy; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters, Laura, Diane, and Gloria, along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Grafton L. Embelton, 66, of Thomaston passed away on Oct. 15, surrounded by loved ones. He was the husband of the late Debbie (Barber) Embelton. Grafton was born on March 16, 1959, in Presque Isle, Maine, son of the late William Thomas and Joan M. (Cahill) Embelton. He leaves behind his two sons Shawn, and Keith; his two grandchildren; his sister, Cynthia, and her husband; his sister-in-law; his father-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
Adeline Doris Bolton, of Thomaston, died on Oct. 6, at the age of 99. Adeline was born on July 18, 1926 in Milldale. She is survived by her son, Bruce, and his wife; sister-in-law, Karin; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Doris M. Fenn, of Norwich and Thomaston, 87, passed away on Oct. 12 after a long illness. Doris was born in Torrington on March 9, 1938, daughter of the late Duane and Emma (Gaylord) Stone. Doris leaves behind her son, Donald; her siblings, Harry, and Nancy; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Geraldine Daddona "Gerry,” 78, of Thomaston and formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully Oct. 2. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles J. Daddona, who predeceased her in 2018. Gerry was born in Waterbury on Oct. 25, 1946, a daughter of the late William and Dora (Brooks) Fennelly. Gerry leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Charles; daughter, Adriane Guerin; six grandchildren; brother, Raymond; sisters, Virginia, Kathleen, Bly, Roberta, and Irene, and many nieces and nephews.
TORRINGTON
Milton Hall, 83, passed away Oct. 22 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. Milton was born in Torrington on June 18, 1942, son of the late Clark and Lettie Hall. Survivors include three children, Laura, Jennifer, and Matthew; two stepchildren; eight grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a brother, Bruce and his wife.
Charles Robert Marracino “Bob,” a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and accomplished mechanical engineer, passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 22, with his family by his side. Bob was born on Nov. 18, 1942, in Torrington. He was the son of Nicholas and Mary Marracino. Bob is deeply mourned by his family, his beloved wife, Evelyn; his cherished daughters Amy, Krista; his twin sister, Elizabeth "Betty," and many nieces and nephews. He was the proud grandfather of two grandsons.
Eleonore Reeve, 90, passed away Oct. 21 in Torrington. Eleonore was born in Allenburg, Prussia, in 1935. Eleonore was the last surviving member of the Holger family. She is survived by her children: Carolyn; Robert and his wife, Christel and her husband, and Steven and his partner. She also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Doris R. Sibley, 102, passed away Oct. 17, at her home, surrounded by her children. Doris was born in Torrington on Sept. 9, 1923, daughter of the late Louis and Alice Ruwet. Survivors include three children, Claire, Janet, Harold "Peter,” and his wife; eight grandchildren, Jaime, Jaeson, Kinson, Kristopher, Scott, Morgan, Samantha, and Rachel; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Sibley was predeceased by her siblings, Vincent, Joseph, Edmund, George, and Eileen; and sons-in-law.
Lucille C. Young passed away peacefully on Oct. 12, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Nov. 9, 1941, in New Hampshire, and later made her home in Torrington, where she built a lifetime of love, kindness, and community. Lucille was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry, her infant twins, John and Kenneth, and her grandson, Michael. She is survived by her children, Henry, and Tracy; her granddaughter, Melissa; and her great-granddaughter.
Rose Janssen, 88, of Torrington passed away peacefully Oct. 12. She was born in Torrington and was the daughter of the late Rose and James Gioia. She is survived by sisters, Lorraine, and Eileen, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Samuel, Vincent "Peachy", Anthony, Thomas, and Lawrence.
Jeanne McGarrity, 80, of Torrington, unexpectedly and peacefully passed away on Oct. 12. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jean Repas, and her husband, Bill McGarrity. Jeanne was widowed young, but she poured her heart into raising her kids and staying close with family and friends. Her heart found joy in her partner, Howie Caine, and her dogs Joey and Cooper. Jeanne shared a lifelong bond with her beloved younger brother, Jack. Jeanne is survived by her son Ryan; her daughters Heather, Gretchen; four grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Alyssa, Drew, and Reese.
Vincent Brophy Jr, 87, of Torrington passed away Oct. 10. Born Oct. 28, 1937 in Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. He is survived by his son Steven, daughter Jacquelyn, and a niece; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves brothers Bob, Tom and Terry.
George Carbone, 82, passed away Oct. 6 in Torrington. George was born in Torrington Jan. 14, 1943, son of the late George and Joanna (Stomski) Carbone, and had been a lifelong Torrington resident. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Paula, include two sons, Christopher and Paul; a granddaughter; and a brother, James. George was predeceased by his son, Michael.
Kathleen Mary Patterson, 83, of Torrington passed away peacefully, at her home, on Oct. 5. Born in Torrington on July 23, 1942, to the late Edward and Viola (Carbone) Fargo, Kathleen's early life showed her fierce commitment to family. Kathleen was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Emil “Moe.” She is survived by her husband, Norman; their four children, Edward, Colleen, Norman, and Randall; her sister, Audrey; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
WINSTED:
Joseph Michael Cilfone, of Winsted, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Oct. 21, at the age of 74. Born on April 7, 1951, to Joseph Dean and Gloria Lorraine, Joseph was a lifelong craftsman and motorcycle enthusiast, he found joy in building, restoring, and riding his motorcycles. For more than 50 years, Joseph worked in the family business, Oakville Home Improvement. He will be deeply missed by his family, including his son, Joseph Michael, his siblings, Anthony V., Gloriann, Dean Cilfone and Joann.
Francis Gallo passed away peacefully in his sleep Oct. 7. Francis was born Oct. 13, 1942 and is a lifelong resident of Winsted. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joyce. He is survived by his three children, Paul, Joyce Ann, and Kim. He was a proud and loving grandfather to four granddaughters.
Connie-Lee Hagarty, 88, passed away peacefully on Oct. 6, at her Winsted home. Her last days were spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by her side, surrounded by stories, laughter, and prayers. Connie was born in Hartford on March 12, 1937 to the late Daniel and Constance Harrington. Connie is survived by three of her children, Mary-Beth and husband, Laurie, and Tommy and wife. She also has a daughter-in-law, Charlene, widow to her late son, Daniel. Her memory also lives on in her grandchildren. In addition, Connie is survived by her great-grandchildren.
